Smiling in a winter wonderland!

Illat pimenevät ja kylmenevät. Talvi tuo tuloaan ja pitkä kuuma kesä on enää vain muisto. Turhaa on kuitenkaan vaipua epätoivoon; olen nimittäin listannut syyt miksi talvestakin voi nauttia hymy huulilla! ;)

Evenings are getting colder and darker. Winter is coming and long warm summer is just a distant memory. There is no reason to be miserable though; I have made a list about great reasons how to enjoy winter smile on your face ;) 

Kesähelteitä osaa arvostaa ihan omalla tavallaan kun on elänyt keskellä loputtomalta tuntuvaa kylmän ja viiman aikakautta. Mitä kauemmin odottaa, sen makeammalta palkinto tuntuu. Pätee myös muissa elämän osa-alueissa. Liian helppo on tylsää!

When warm summer is coming back, you appreciate it way more when you have survived trough the cold season. Longer you wait, better is satisfaction. This rule also works in another areas in life. Too easy - too boring!

Voi pukea päälleen upean sinisen mekon ja leikkiä jääkuningatarta siirtolapuutarhamökin pihassa siihen saakka kunnes huulet ovat muuttuneet sinisiksi. ( Näitä suomalaisuuden perinteitä..) FUNFUNFUN!

You can wear a gorgeous blue dress and play an ice queen on the front yard of your community garden cottage until your lips have turned blue. ( This is how we do in Finland..) FUNFUNFUN!

 Voit kertoa ulkomaalaisille ystävillesi kuinka upeaa on asua vuoden ympäri jäämaassa ja kuinka igloo on ehdottomasti paras asumismuoto. Jääkarhut ovat myös arkipäivää. (Varaudu siihen, että kaverisi saattavat todella uskoa sinua..)

You can tell your foreigner friends how AWESOME is to live in the country of ice and snow through the entire year. Don`t forget to mention about how comfortable it is to live in igloo. Ice bears are also common in Finland. ( Take a note, some of your friends may not realize you are just joking. Been there, seen that..)

Tunnelmalliset koti-illat kynttilän valossa oman kumppanin kanssa. Mikä sen mukavampaa kuin katsoa yhdessä elokuvaa ja siemailla lämmintä teetä! Jos kumppani on tavoitamattomissa olosuhteiden pakosta tai sopivaa ei ole löytynyt, voit pahvista askarrella vaihtoehtoseuralaisen ja nauttia siitä että vastapuoli on aina samaa mieltä kaikesta kanssasi ja on hyvä kuuntelija. Hiljaisuushan on myöntymisen merkki, eikö niin?

Candle light evenings with your sweetheart at home. So romantic! What can be sweeter than watch a movie and drink warm tea together! If you don`t have a possibility to have a company by your side all the time or you haven`t found anyone, don`t worry! Just take a piece of cardboard and make your own partner! The best part with cardboard boyfriend/girlfriend is that it always agrees with you and is a good listener. Silence is a sign of agreement, right?

 Elämään saa mukavaa extremeä, kun jokainen päivä on selviytymistaistelu. Trillerit ja action-elokuvat voi jättää suosiolla väliin kun joka-aamuinen koulu/työmatka on kuin tietokonepelin esterata kaivautuessasi lumikinosten läpi kohti määränpäätä. Matkalla voi joutua hyppelemään lumiesteiden ohi, puhumattakaan katolta tippuvaa lunta ja jäätä. Musta jää myös yllättää pettävästi ja mikä sen mukavampaa kuin tarkastella keskeltä katua maailmaa kontaltaan.

You can skip all of the action and horror movies when you are making your own life extreme! Every morning can be a new survival story! You feel as being part of the real video game while you are making your way to school/work by digging through the snow drifts. Sometimes the way can be challenging when you are jumping over snow obstacles and trying to avoid snow and ice attacks which are falling down from the roof. Black ice under the snow can also be tricky and what could be nicer than start your morning by looking at the world from the new angle, laying in the middle of the street. 

Mukavaa viikonjatkoa ja nauttikaa talvikaudesta täysin siemauksin, kuten allekirjoittanutkin. ;)
